    Trauma is a leading cause of pediatric morbidity and mortality around the world. Injuries take the lives of nearly one million children annually and produce lasting consequences among those who suffer non-fatal injuries. Given the burden of premature death and years lived with disability, injuries common in this age group are among the top causes of disability adjusted life-years. Road traffic injuries stand as the leading cause of death in the world among 10-19 year old children, posing a sizable threat to childhood and adolescent survival.
