    There is an oft quoted, now unfortunately clichéd, probably African proverb that; “it takes a village to raise a child”.1 This implies that collectively as a society we all share a responsibility for the health, wellbeing, growth and eventual attainment of participatory citizenry of all the children amongst us. In health care, the notion of a geographically restricted ‘village' used in the proverb can be replaced by the more fluid concept of a ‘team'. A team can be conceptualized as a group of individuals with complimentary skills who come together for the purpose of achieving a goal.
