• Mass-like Lesion on Brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    This 2-year-old previously healthy girl presented with seizures and severe septic shock. She had fever, upper respiratory tract symptoms, and progressive alteration of mental status. Physical examination revealed a comatose, intubated child with generalized edema, abdominal distension, hepatosplenomegaly, and diffuse petechial rash. Laboratory workup was significant for pancytopenia, coagulopathy, hypertriglyceridemia, and elevated ferritin. Cerebrospinal fluid shows 24 white cells with many immature mononuclear cells and high protein of 277 mg/dl.
